35th Fajr Film Festival begins

The opening ceremony of the 35th International Fajr Film Festival started a little after 15:30 GMT at Tehran’s Milad Tower on Saturday, January 28.

To show respect for the victims of the Tehran fire disaster, photos from the scene of the fire and those who died in the incident were displayed.

Later a piece of music composed by Majid Entezami for the Iranian movie ‘the Fateful Day’ was played.

Artist as well as high-ranking officials including Iranian culture minister attended the ceremony.

Iraninan presenter Ehsan Karami was hosting the event.

Fajr festivals are held annually to commemorate Iran's late Islamic revolutionary leader Imam Khomeini' return from exile in 1979 and the fall of monarchy in Iran.

Before 1995, only Iranian movies took part at the festival, but organizer decided to admit movies made abroad and hold it as an international event.
